Climbing Mt. Bierstadt – Time Lapse

A couple of months ago I was commissioned to produce fine art photography of Colorado for a Canadian company and their client. So when I was asked by a good friend of mine to climb one of Colorado’s 14’ers, Mt. Bierstadt,  I jumped at the chance to get some good shots. We started out at the main trail head on Guanella Pass at 7:30am and some three hours later, unexpectedly, I made it up the mountain. I am not exactly in top shape…

Anyway, I wanted to document my first ascent of a 14’er, so I strapped my GoPro HD cam to my backpack and set it to take a photograph every 2 seconds. The battery died about 10 min after reaching the summit. Good timing there. But not before recording 4945 images. The result is this time lapse video of the ascent… Hold on to your seat, it’s a bit rocky going up… 🙂

 

Ps: The detour at 12sec was caused by a  Moose swimming in the lake…
